The World Ocean Council partnered with the City and the Port of Barcelona to develop a global Blue Economy hub. With its new headquarters in Barcelona, the World Ocean Council hosted two high-impact ocean events in the city: the much anticipated return of the Sustainable Ocean Summit (17-18 October), followed by the launch of the Global Blue Finance Summit (19 October).
SOS and BlueFIN attendees also joined OCEANOVATION MEETUP x Barcelona on 20 October, hosted by our Key Strategic Partner IMPACT2DAY.
Both events were hosted at World Trade Center Barcelona, a state-of-the-art conference center and architectural gem on the Barcelona waterfront.
SOS 2022 and BlueFIN 2022 featured several unique networking events, including an evening at the Museu Marítim de Barcelona, alongside a life-sized replica of the 16th-century Royal Galley ship.

Organized by the World Ocean Council (WOC), the Global Blue Finance Summit is set to launch as the leading conference on ocean investment and finance. SOS 2019, which explored the theme of Investing in Ocean Futures: Finance and Innovation for the Blue Economy, gave rise to BlueFIN. It was the most comprehensive global blue finance event organized to date.
